Abbott began a collaboration with Berry Street, the company behind a digital health platform that connects people needing evidence-based nutrition care with a network of registered dietitians and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools.

The partnership combines Abbott’s Lingo biowearable, which provides personalized glucose insights, with live nutrition coaching from Berry Street, an insurance-covered nutrition care platform. Lingo, an over-the-counter continuous glucose monitor (CGM) for adults not using insulin, rolled out in the U.S. in September 2024.

Berry Street and Lingo users will be able to access registered dietitians trained in Lingo and continuous glucose monitoring, receive personalized nutrition recommendations based on glucose trends, and meet virtually through one-on-one appointments.

Abbott cited low awareness of prediabetes as a driver of the partnership, noting that more than 115 million U.S. adults have the condition but 80% are unaware of it. Untreated prediabetes can raise the risk of Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. The company also pointed to clinical research that shows dietitian-led nutrition therapy can improve glucose control, weight, cholesterol and other cardiometabolic markers, including in prediabetic patients.

Comments from Abbott and Berry Street

Olivier Ropars, divisional VP of Abbott’s Lingo business: “At Abbott, we believe the future of health lies in giving people the tools and support they need to understand their bodies and take action. By partnering with Berry Street, we’re combining the advanced biosensing technology of Lingo with expert nutrition guidance to help people make informed nutrition and lifestyle decisions that can support healthy habits over time.”

Noah Kotlove, co-founder and CEO of Berry Street: “For too long, nutrition guidance has relied on broad recommendations that may not reflect how an individual’s body actually responds to food. The combination of continuous glucose insights and registered dietitian expertise creates a more personalized approach to nutrition. Together with Lingo, we’re helping consumers move beyond guesswork and build sustainable habits rooted in a deeper understanding of their health.”
